マドゥロと妻は「抵抗をやめ」、米軍関係者に死者を出すことなく米国の拘束下に置かれた。戦闘機は、夫妻を現場から退避させるヘリコプターを援護した。
「部隊の撤退が始まる中で、複数回の自衛的交戦があった」とケインは語った。米軍要員は午前3時29分までに、ベネズエラ沖の海上に退避した。
トランプは3日、米海軍の強襲揚陸艦イオ・ジマ艦上にいるマドゥロの画像を自身のSNS「トゥルース・ソーシャル」に投稿した。
同日、SNS上で広く拡散された映像には、カラカス上空を旋回するヘリコプターや、市内を揺るがす爆発の様子が映っている。
