Japan's Nuclear Power Plant Belt: At the temporarily housing in Onagawa for Japan's 2011 tsunami survivors, a 87-year-old man looks onto the outside, as he suffers with Alzheimer. According to his wife, he becomes so several months after the disaster probably due to the PTSD -- he and his wife nearly lost everything in the moments. Onagawa also contains a nuclear reactor that barely survived from the 2011 quake and tsunami disaster. Yet, since the disaster, the depopulation in Onagawa area has been further accelerated. This man and his wife still live in the tiny space of Kasetsu, temporally housing, as the 4th anniversary is coming soon but the rebuilding is still very behind. One of the biggest reasons is that, due to the recently decided 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, large parts of rebuilding materials and man power sources have moved to Tokyo. 　写真に潜むアイデンティティーや帰属性――日本人、異邦人、アウトサイダー 、アメリカ、ニューヨークのローワーイーストサイド（私が最も長く住んだ街）、あるいはアイデンティティー・クライシス。そうしたものをオーバーラップさせ、しばしば私自身のメタファーとしても主題を撮影している。時には、like数が伸びないと判っているものでも、実験的にインプットしながら。

　目的は、自らのアイデンティティーをもう一度見つめ直し、生とは、死とは何か、を考えることだ。また、可能な限り多くの人とシェアすることで、我々自身の未来を考えていくためでもある。

　このブログで今回紹介した、福島を含む東北の写真はまさに、その意図で撮影し、インスタグラムで発信している。東日本大震災が、千年に１度か２度しか起きない未曾有のものだったとしても、それを想定外の大自然災害として片付けることはできないからだ。ましてフクシマについては、大きな人災要素を孕んでいる。東北で起こり、今も起こっている問題に眼を向けないのは、我々人類の未来に対して眼を背けるのと同じなのである。

Japan's Nuclear Power Plant Belt: Crop supporters in no man land in Iitate village in Fukushima, on the 3/11 quake and tsunami anniversary. Iitate village is one of the icons of the Fukushima disaster. The Japanese government, as well as the residents themselves, wants to clean up the radiation-contaminated community as quick as possible. But the progress is very slow. Although people can stay in daytime, the further speed up for the cleaning is very important. Otherwise depopulation is much more accelerated, and it gets much harder to rebuild the village. Fukushima (3/4): in a cordoned-off beach area in Iwaki, Fukushima, on the 4th anniversary (March 11th) of Japan's 2011 quake and tsunami that triggered the Fukushima nuke power plant disaster, as the rebuilding is very behind. Nearly 20,000 people were killed and still a huge number of people are in refugee status due to the disaster. #fukushima #tsunami #311 #japan PS: This color accidentally became so due to the Hipstamatic random operation, despite the fact that I set up it in black and white. Yet, I love the result, since it could be a metaphor of Fukushima.
